Big Bend Motor Inn
« on: April 30, 2008, 11:24:20 AM »
I've never stayed there myself, but I've heard more than a few negative reviews.  However, it looks like changes are coming.

Big Bend Motor Inn has been sold to Forever Resorts.

Good changes I'm sure.  Forever Resorts runs some nice places.

I think this is a more important pick from the paper.

"Retirement Planning
If you had purchased $1000 of Nortel stock one year ago it would now be worth $49.00 With Enron you would have had $16.50 of the original $1000
With WorldCom, less than $5.00. Delta Airlines stock would be worth $49.00
But, if you had purchased $1000 worth of beer or wine, drank the beer or wine and then turned the cans or bottles in for the aluminum/glass recycling refund, you would have $214.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
Not all those who wander are lost.

Some friends are heading to the Bend in a ginormous motor home around Christmas. Is BB Motor Inn open? I get nothing when googling. Nothing shows on Forever Resorts either. Anyone know anything new?

Are they answering their phone? Try 800-848-BEND or 432-371-2218.

They are open.  Richard supplied the phone number I have in the phone book.  The restaurant has been spruced up and the food is good.

Thanks for the quick replies! I'm sure they'll be able to get a spot there. They are going around the same time as us so I'll get to show some "newbies" around!

Uh oh...will the cost of a shower go up for those of us needing a shower...but not necessarily needing a room?? :nailbitting:

I can go scout if you like... we are 23 miles north of it... The food is better... the whole place is very clean now and they wanted to pay me a whole $9 an hour to cook there... I had to turn it down as I thought I would be well overpaid!

Ara, if you get a chance to check it out, that would be appreciated. I wonder, too, if they still have hotel rooms, and if so, their rates. We stayed there on our first trip in the pop up but overheard a few motel guests really complaining about their rooms, beds, rates, etc. I sure hope it has improved. I guess I could call...

Thanks!
Cindy

Anybody been able to find them on the web recently? I found this link:
http://foreverlodging.com/foreverinfo.cfm?PropertyKey=&ContentKey=287860
which says it's for the Big Bend RV Park, but the link that's supposed to take you to "Big Bend Resort & Adventures" goes to Signal Mountain Lodge at Grand Teton NP. :icon_rolleyes:

Just tried the link and it took me to BBML, looks like they got it fixed. I have stayed there twice, it's ok for a bed and shower. Thanks for the link!!!    :eusa_clap:

Interesting that Forever Resorts also owns the Mission Lodge. I wonder what else that company will be buying. Kinda scary...

I've stayed in there many times;  it's as close to the park as it gets, and I've never had any complaints about the place.  Usually stay in the Mission Inn as I still like to light up occasionally;  it's been part of BBMI as long as I remember.  Not sure where the negative reviews come from.  The place isn't fancy, just your basic motel.  Clean and relatively comfortable.
