News regarding the Holland Hotel
« on: February 12, 2009, 04:20:02 PM »
I just saw this unwelcome news in the Alpine Avalanche:

We're supposed to stay there next month.  I'm wondering if we should rethink!

Bummer. Let's hope they can work things out and stay open. I'd definitely make some backup plans, at a minimum.

Changes at the Holland
By Mike Perry

The historic Holland Hotel had a “we are closed” sign on it Tuesday.

The Avalanche was told that the hotel received a notice of foreclosure sometime in the past week. In addition, a court filing has requested a bankruptcy.
He also plans to create a rooftop beer garden overlooking downtown Alpine and the mountains beyond."
I guess that means the end of the Crow's Nest. Rats.
not necessarily.....if all goes as planned, this will be a precedence. I have pretty intimate knowledge of this affair...I'll post more as details come.....stay tuned...the Holland is going to be the place to be before it's over.
I'm guessing these plans are on hold or scrapped.

As an Alpineite I suggest the Maverick Inn.  It is right across from Sul Ross and was redone by a local.  The new Hampton will open soon but of course it will have the nice homey chain feel.

yes, unfortunetly, the Holland could not come to an agreement with the potential buyers....I guess bankruptcy/foreclosure was a better option..... :eusa_think:

Being a potential buyer the foreclosure is a better option for the buyer.
Visiting BB since 1966, nothing like being lost and finding heaven.

So does this mean I have no reservation for next Thursday night?

If so I'm going to have a very upset traveling companion.

I just called them.  They're open for business and under new management.  Our reservation was still in the system too.
