chisos mining company's condos
« on: January 04, 2012, 06:34:51 PM »
i stayed in one of their condos over new years, very nice. living room bedroom kitchen bath we have stayed in other condo units, they are similarly furnished. i like making my own breakfast, it's better and faster than going out, so the stove is a big deal to me. also nice is the full size fridge/ freezer. they are priced at 130 a night. these condos have become our favorite place to stay in big bend.

I stayed there at the one in the middle of the unit (one building three condos). The early morning view out on the back patio with a cup of coffee was fantastic. I liked it a little better than the Far Flung Casitas (also nice) as the condos are a roomier. The futon is a good sleeper and didn't leave me with any back problems.
I was with my brother-in-law in his SUV, I'm not sure that my PT would have had a muffler at the top if I had tried to get it up that drive. It's not black gap road by any means and it's not very long but it is an up hill grade and it had a few large rocks and diagonal cross gulleys when we were there.  Something to keep in mind if your vehicle is low.

They have units with better driveways, i know the one  marty speaks of. high clearance recommended. the santa fe house has the best view. i liked las casitas also , the owners were very nice. The condos offer more room and a full kitchen.
