There was some discussion here about the motel's new policy regarding the acceptance of a credit card to guarantee your reservation. The folks there want a check mailed to them, and they will mail you a confirmation/receipt. They won't take your card to hold your room.

Seems as though the motel has been getting killed by no-shows. People are making reservations by card, then blowing off their res when their plans change. So now, they want the rooms paid for before they make your actual reservation.

FWIW, if you are trying to make a last minute res, they will still take your card to hold your room, but you have to double pinky swear that you're going to show up. If you don't, I guess they hit the "smite" button on your karma rating.

One more thing...it's worth the trouble.
