Looks like protecting the female rangers from career NPS sexual predators IS important to some.  Question is what did those now retired board members really know, and did they swim around in the muck ignoring the problem?

First Russian Collusion, then Obstruction, then illegal payment to Stormy Daniels, now no formal vote on impeachment for a 30 min. phone call to Ukraine

No evidence, just more secret investigations and Shifty lies perpetuating insane blinding anger

Hard to know what that board knew and when. However, throughout the NPS a great many people did know, and for a long time, of an institutionalized culture of abuse. They did nothing at all about it. Some, even as they decried the crimes when revealed, were directly and personally complicit in looking the other way and covering up the mess. The "retired" (correctly read as forced out but not otherwise held accountable) superintendent of Grand Canyon is exhibit #1 of this insular mindset that not only allowed this culture to exist, but actually encouraged it by doing absolutely nothing to address the problems.

It's what occurs when there is a lack of oversight and parks are run as personal kingdoms of employees. The NPS is among the worst of agencies lacking adequate oversight. The darlings of tourists, the NPS is given a pass on nearly everything they do, from general management, to rules, to fees, and everything else; the great majority of which occurs without the public participation process agencies are mandated to engage in, but to which the NPS merely gives lip service and pro forma actions.

Wendell (Garret Dillahunt): It's a mess, ain't it, sheriff?
Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones): If it ain't, it'll do till the mess gets here.
