ROAD WORK
Glenn Springs Road will be closed from 8/13/18 through 9/13/18 from the north end of the road past the Pine Canyon Road junction. All backcountry campsites in the area will also be closed to camping (Pine Canyon, Nugent Mt., Chilicotal, and Rice Tank)

Giving cars better access?

Hhow hard is it to inform why the closure is occurring?

Just another example of poor public communication.

The description of the closure is confusing too. Whoever wrote it is spatially challenged. How far "past the Pine Canyon Road junction"??

At least to Rice Tank, but perhaps as far as Juniper Canyon Road.  :eusa_think:

Road work is the what. Why would be an explanation of "what".

I dunno

Scenario

Visitor: Why is the Glen Spring road closed?
Ranger: We are doing road work

??? What is that supposed to be? ???

Continuing with our internet English class... We have this statement (that doesn't look anything like what you wrote)

"ROAD WORKGlenn Springs Road will be closed from 8/13/18 through 9/13/18 from the north end of the road past the Pine Canyon Road junction. All backcountry campsites in the area will also be closed to camping (Pine Canyon, Nugent Mt., Chilicotal, and Rice Tank)"

So, once again, for clarity- the park service says they are doing road work and the road will be closed. Nowhere in their statement does it say why they are closing the road. In case this "flies a little too high" it's possible to do road work and not close a road. I see it nearly every day. We'd just like to know what they are doing to the road and campsites. That's not too much to ask.

Given how (not) forthcoming the NPS is with the simplest of information (unless it's a new prohibition), a newbie who hasn't yet experienced the exquisite frustration of dealing with the agency should make the call.
