1100 miles last weekend
« on: September 22, 2011, 01:04:23 PM »
Left Midland fri. morning and drove to Roswell then up to Ruidoso. Unknown to us there was a big motorcycle rally going on and it was simply impossible to park and walk anywhere in town. Made a circle through town and decided to go up to Cloudcroft. Cloudcroft had more bikes in less space than Ruidoso, couldn't park there either. Went down the mtn to Alamogordo where things were a little calmer. Checked into a hotel and headed for a sunset shot at WHite Sands. Had a good photo session out there. Got up sat and headed to the Three Rivers Petroglypg site. Amazing place I really want to visit again! Went to stock car races outside of Tularosa sat night, what a blast that was (PHOTOS HERE). Headed home Sunday by way of El Paso and Franklin Mountains SP. Only spent a few hrs at the park (wife still had school homework to do) but it was enough to get my interest going. Another place we will definately be revisiting. All in all a really good weekend.

I was just about to make a post asking about the Ruidoso trip on the perfect vehicle thread. I'm glad I saw this post. Great pictures, now we just have to get you in the back country  ;)

Very nice!  I 'almost' made it up to Cloudcroft last December.  Never been there, but I hope to get there some day soon.

The petroglyph site was pretty amazing and there's a np campground just down the road from it. I'd sure like to do a full weekend out there. A day wasn't nearly long enough to look at the glyphs in there. I still took several hundred pictures. It surely sets your mind to wandering about what they must have been thinking..
