Barton Creek Greenbelt (Twin Falls)
« on: March 21, 2009, 07:01:26 PM »
We got way too late a start on the day to even consider driving out to Enchanted Rock to fight the crowds, so after a leisurely morning hanging at the folks' house, we headed over to the Barton Creek Greenbelt and hiked up to the Twin Falls area. Mom & Dad were off at a funeral so it was just me, Jennifer, my nephew Justin and his fiancй Chloe, plus her sister Anthea.

Four trees in one:

Chloe, Jennifer, and Thea (l-r):

Gotta stay hydrated!

Met a new friend who loved to jump up and catch water drops! His owner was more than happy to let Chloe and Jennifer take over for a while.

On the way back to the car Jennifer decided she'd hiked enough. I carried her for a while before finally talking her into letting some of the young kids take over.

Justin's turn.

Blooming Texas Mountain Laurel.

Thea's turn.

Jennifer's just about crashed...

Guess she needs to work on her act, as she kept giggling while pretending to sleep in Justin's arms.

And amazingly enough, Jennifer didn't fall asleep in the car. Could be that snack bag of a couple dozen marshmallows helped pick up her energy level a bit...

Yup! Jennifer was upset I had forgotten to take along her bathing suit as she wanted to get in the water. Seeing as how she has yet to swim without "floaties" I was kind of surprised. I spent the better part of my youth swimming in that creek so maybe this summer...

If Austin gets some rain this spring, it's a great little tube trip from 360, although Jennifer is probably too young.

Hey, RichardM!
Thanks for posting.  Our daughter was a student at UT for 4 years...regrettably, never visited that part of Austin.  Will have to make a trip up there one of these days.
