Bastrop State Park Texas (May 09)
« on: June 02, 2009, 07:58:39 AM »
Went on an short overnight backpacking trip with my friend Joe and his son to Bastrop State Park. It rained most of the day and didn't stop until late evening. A very damp trip, but got a good nights sleep on a deep bed of pine needles.

Looks like you had a nice day trip - with the possible exception of a little mud on the boots.  :icon_biggrin:

Just a couple questions:

1. What were the overnight temperatures like - hot/humid, cooler because of the rain, etc.?

2. Did you see any critters? snakes, birds, etc.?

The temperature was in the 70's and very humid.  It might have got into the upper 60's at night.  So I guess it was cool compared to how hot it could have been.

The only critters we saw were small frogs near the ponds.  We heard (all night) birds callling.  Don't know what kind, but they were loud.

Mud wasn't to bad.  The trails were covered with pine needles.
