Well, this isn't much of a trip report. Been a long few weeks/months here... For now though just to share the pics, here's a link to this past weekend's outing to Death Valley National Park:

It was a great deal of fun, saw a lot, reminded me of how much I love Big Bend. Enjoy!

Probably a good time of year to visit Death Valley.  Temps probably not getting too extreme, allowing for a full days' worth of hiking.

Thanks guys! And that coyote pic is definitely my favorite from the bunch. Roughly 1.5 days in Death Valley was not nearly enough time, and yet it felt like a good while based on how much time I spent out and about in the park.

If only I had spent the same amount of time taking pics on the strip when we hit Vegas for Halloween night!  :icon_eek:

nice.  DV is a great park.  If you ever have more time, Fall Canyon is cool. Marble Canyon is cool.  Ubehebe Crater, the Racetrack and Ubehebe Peak are outstanding.  I want to climb Telescope Peak and check out 5000 year old bristlecone pines.

Very nice!  What were the temps like?

Sleepy, I saw a pine cone in the lower (desert floor) elevations and wondered what the heck was going on there... Figured the wind blew it down from way off someplace, but never gave it more thought than that based on where it was at. Now that I read your post I'm thinking I should've picked it up and checked it out a bit!

Miles, temps were pleasant for most of the day... Though somewhat cold overnight! The highs were probably only about 90something at the most, but they felt hotter depending on the terrain at the moment. Some surfaces seemed to magnify the sun's power and concentrate it all in one spot... The spot where I was standing! So it wasn't too hot, but sometimes it sure felt like it!

In reality though I didn't really break a sweat 'till I got back to S.A. where it was pretty Humid this past Monday late afternoon... Just before the storms came in and dumped hail all over the house for about 5 minutes straight.
