Lost Maples SNA - Backpacking Trip Report
« on: November 23, 2010, 08:26:43 AM »
Last Friday I took my nine year old daughter on her first backpacking trip. We headed down to Lost Maples State Natural Area (SNA) for a short one night trip. This time of year Lost Maples is alive with fall color and we hoped to take it all in. This being my daughter?s first backpacking trip...I was real worried about mileage. But Lost Maples SNA provided the perfect place.

Colors look great this year, thanks for sharing!  Last year a tornado had gone through the park and the park discouraged visitors as a result.

Really nice photos! Glad you got to take your daughter. My dad taking me hiking when I was her age gave me a love for the outdoors and respect for nature.  :icon_biggrin:

Great pictures. Taking my kids out in the woods is one of life's greatest joys. Looks a little strange to see leaves changing as we've got a foot of snow on the ground nad could pick up another foot this weekend. Enjoy the warmth!

Not for long.  A Blue Northerner has hit the Texas Hill Country.  Low thirties tonight and twenties tomorrow night . . . after that it will warm back up above freezing.

Thanks for sharing, and for being one of the good dads out there!
MOT, when did the tornado hit? I was there last Thanksgiving.
