I took a short trip to Martin Dies Jr. State Park last weekend.  It was HOT! and maybe for that reason the campgrounds were nearly empty, but the lake was full and I spent a lot of time on the water in my kayak.  The shallow sloughs are choked with a variety of aquatic plants and cypress trees and home to many different types of songbirds.  Sometimes East Texas bores me to tears, but never when I'm in this type of environment.  I saw a few squirrels, an armadillo, a couple of rabbits, and gators each time I took my boat out, and I really enjoyed the AC in my camper at midday and night.  I'm getting pretty soft in my old age

Shutterfly confuses me but I've successfully linked to an album there once before and will try again.  Let's see if it works this time and please let me know what you think.

Nice job, Ray.

This appears to be a better link to the album:

My favorite is this one (assuming the link points to #13 of 24... Shutterfly confuses me too).

Isn't that a nice park? We camped there a while back and really enjoyed it.

Thanks for posting and putting up the excellent photos!

Super images Ray!  I took one look at those lilly pads and thought about Bass Fishing.  Do you know if there are bass in these waters and did you fish at all?
