Middle Fork Lake, NM
« on: June 01, 2009, 11:42:53 AM »
The kids and I ran up to Middle Fork Lake in the Carson national Forest of NM this weekend. We were treated to great weather, a surprising amount of solitude (the annual Texas migration to the town of Red River has not yet occurred ) and good times. I have included a few pics for Homero and there is some prose to accompany the pictures on the blog.

Sweet! Love the "silk" falls.

I'm tempted to show that last pic to my back doctor. You should donate your spine to medical science when you die. :icon_lol:

Danny, I'd like to see a pic with your pack and all your kids on your back.

That waterfall pic is awesome.

MDD you are the man, a very fertile man indeed. What is your typical pack weight not including little ones???? :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

Anytime I think my pack weight is killing me, I think of MDD and his gargantuan sized pack and think how easy I got it!  :)

Danny, I'd like to see a pic with your pack and all your kids on your back.

Well I went home for lunch and attempted the "Blaylock challenge" with partial success. I could only fit three of the kids in my pack, so I put one on my shoulders and held the other.

With six sleeping bags, tent, gear, etc I am usually up around 65-70 lbs. The pack looks heavier as a significant portion is taken up by insulation.

It should be COOLER, too.  Only 68F in Red River right now.
