What a difference a couple of days (and a tropical storm) make. Here's a picture off the TPWD Facebook page

Incredible!  What year did you graduate from UT Richard?  You may remember that several members of a family were trapped near the falls by rising water and drowned only moments before a helicopter arrived to rescue them.  I was there a day before and it looked like your photos....normal flow.  The victims were visiting Austin from out of state for one of their childrens graduation from UT in the early 80's.

:longhorn: I graduated in 1988, although I've been told it's better to leave the date off of my resume, lest it date me too much. :icon_rolleyes:

This past Sunday my brothers, Brian and Gordon, nieces Sydney and Jessica, nephew Dawson, daughter Jennifer and I headed out to Pedernales Falls for the day. We got to the falls a little after 11AM. Here's a pano stitch from the overlook.

Canon PhotoStitch version:

AutoStitch.net version:

By the time I finished taking the pano pics ang got down to the river, Dawson had already caught his first fish.

He's getting pretty good with that fly rod.

Brian and Jennifer stuck with conventional tackle, while Gordon supervised.

While the three of them kept the fish scared, Gordon, Sydney, Jessica and I headed upstream to explore.

Nice to see the stick still holding up that ledge.

No, it wasn't the heat. They're always this goofy.

Jessica conquers the rock with her super-ninja spider skillz.

Ultimate shade tree in the middle of the river.

You'd think I'd catch at least one of them in the air, but apparently I'm just too consistent.

On the way back we took a detour through the Chihuahuan Desert.

Another super-ninja spider skillz demonstration.

Some illegal swimmers and trespassers on the wrong river bank.

This spring on the river bank had stronger flow than any of the falls.

Jennifer was able to reel one in.

Next up was a picnic lunch in the shade before heading down to the designated swimming area.

I was able to run into a few BBC members at the park, but I'll leave it up to them to identify themselves. My crew was anxious to hit the nearest Dairy Queen, so it was a short mini-Bender.
