Rio Grande Gorge
« on: February 25, 2008, 12:22:17 PM »
I just got back from a week in New Mexico.  On the way to Taos, I made a small detour to see the in North-Central New Mexico near Taos.

Looking North (Rio is 650 feet below)

Looking South

The bridge itself (1,280 foot span)

I knew nothing about the canyon the first time I went that direction. Just tooling along across the moderate rolling countryside when BLAM here is one heck of a hole in the ground. It is a very impressive crack in the earth.  Great pictures including the snow.

The Taos Box is a great stretch to raft.  As the years go by the raftable/canoeable flows seem to get less and less frequent.  Awesome area.  Thanks for the pics.
Funny... I have a story about that...
