Most impressive for a Texas boy to go from sea level to the highest mountain tops.  Well done!

Way.....to.....go.

I made my first trip to Colorado about 25 years ago and have been back almost every year since. I love going somewhere green, cool, and where you get rain in the summer. Sometimes you find out that the weather interferes with your plans but that's just part of the experience. The depressing part is when you come home to the heat and drought.

Awesome report, man. Next week, your assignment is to hit some high peaks in the Sierra Nevada and report back with text and photos in the same fashion. We, who are stuck at home or work, are vicariously living through you.

Great light in this one and a good sense of place. I wanna go hike there!

Excellent. Now you've started a photo project: high peaks and their shadows. Combine this one with the shadow of Guadalupe peak, and that's a good start! :icon_biggrin:

What a great trip...even with the weather so different from what we're used to. Nice pics too! Thanks for braving the elements and sharing them with us!

We used to go to S CO every year...in the Durango area...and it was magical. I miss going there. Your pics made me feel like I was there again!
  Thanks!

When you need a 14er fix, use 14ers.com.  I think it is the best site for pictures, routes, and current climbing reports that I have found.  Thanks for the trip report.  Pictures never do the beauty of a 14er justice.

Great trip report and photos.  I just drove by Elbert two days ago on my way back to Texas.  It was 37 degrees at my hotel in Frisco that morning.  Although I was with my young kids, I did manage to climb a 14er while I was in Colorado.  It was sure hard to point the truck southeast and drive back into the Hill Country heat and drought.

Great trip report! My dad and I got turned back by Elbert on a December ascent about ten years ago. We camped at treeline but had to turn back on our summit run the next day due to the 70-80 mile an hour winds with an ambient temperature of 10 degrees. I remember being most astonished by coming across a pair of bighorn rams at 13,000 ft. in that awful weather.
