Spring? in the Rockies
« on: May 20, 2008, 11:33:04 AM »
We just got back from a trip up to Colorado. We split the time between Rocky Mountain National Park and my folk's house in Colorado Springs. I have a trip report of our overnight backpack in Rocky on my blog: griffisfamilyoutdoors.blogspot.com.

A word of warning to any who may have early season high elevation aspirations in Colorado. The high elevations are simply buried in snow. Even at a little over 9,000 feet we ran into 4 plus feet of snow. Many of the campgrounds in the central mountains are expected to open later than normal this year due to the snow pack. It is however, beautiful. The heat wave will probably start melting some off, but that will make for some difficult creek crossings.

It's just not the same.  :eusa_doh:

Now, I have plucked an icicle dangling off the edge of a frozen waterfall, and THAT was an awesome rock.  :eusa_dance:

BTW Danny, looks like another great family trip, even if everybody looked really cold.
