Village Creek with friends/Happy Birthday Randell
« on: May 08, 2010, 09:06:52 PM »

Drove over to Village Creek State Park this morning to spend the day with TWWG, Randell, Xander & Bryson who had camped there Friday night.  We spent a few hours paddling a canoe and a kayak, swimming and playing on the sandbars.  Later, at the campsite, we were joined by Randell's wife, Mary Jo, and some of her family.  It was a great way to spend a Saturday in SE Texas.  It's also Randell's (seen here teaching his sons essential outdoor skills) birthday weekend.

And here with TWWG and the boys paddling upstream.

I thought he was teaching them the "essential Randell outdoor skill" the John Travolta stance.

Just got home.  We had a great time!  You missed the road flare dance off, Ray!  It was great to meet you in person finally and it is always great to see TWWG.

Here are a few more pics.

Xander throws himself in the water.

Competition to see who can eat the most sand in the shallow water.

We used the paddles to shovel sand onto the boys, at their request.

Bryson really knows how to relax by the fire.

We wore this one out.

Happy Birthday, Randell. It looks as though i'm going to look for some flip flops too, but the ones that have a string of toilet tissue you pull from the end of the heels, if they exist at all. :eusa_eh:
Stay thirsty, my friends.

I think there is a belt-loop attachment for that.  The flip flop bottle opener is great until you step in some coyote poo and then try to open a bottle...

It was a lot of fun and MJ's dutch-oven Jambalaya was great - I think I ended up at 4 helpings but it might have been five.  Her family is also very talented and her brother played guitar songs around the campfire at night (like John Denver) while the family sang along in harmony.  Then we had road flare safety training lessons and everyone got to light one up and throw it in the campfire - it's unbelievably bright when a 15 minute flare burns in 2 minutes.  I left early Sunday morning and went on a 13 mile solo hike in the Big Thicket and got home hungry, tired, sore, dirty, and a little sunburnt - in other words GREAT WEEKEND.   TWWG

:icon_biggrin:, I was waitng for some one to ask me: My youngest daughter, Naty. One morning she told me if i could stay with her because she wanted to show me some cartoon,

A boy monster that always sweats and farts when he travels, that was funny to me, always sweats. Thing is we both watch Domo-Kun every afternoon and what got to me was that he also dances to the beat.

Looks like fun...I need to check that place out sometime.

Nice that you hid the beer label Randall...you don't  want any conflicts with your other beer sponsor.
