Wolf Tracks
« on: April 11, 2010, 11:29:49 PM »
I took my youngest son (age 2 1/2) on a quick overnighter this weekend. We were only about 30 minutes from town (about a 45 minute drive from the house) but we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. We saw not another soul on the 11.5 mile walk but plenty of animal sign. There was plenty of bear and mountain lion sign, but most interestingly a TON of wolf tracks and scat.

Regardless of one's perspective on wolf reintroduction, seeing the trail you are following littered with their passage sure seems to increase the feeling of "wildness". Add to that equation solitude, snow and a two year old hanging from your back and it reminds you that you are only a passing visitor through the area. I've attached some pictures from the trip. More pictures and a little prose are on the blog...
