Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike
« on: December 09, 2009, 01:39:29 AM »
I thru-hiked the AT in 2008 and made a website about it. My pic on Katahdin looks bad because my digital ran out of batteries about fifty miles from the end. Links to the good stuff including stories and pictures on the upper right of the website. I took over 1,000 pictures because I wanted to capture as much of the trail as I could and they really help jog your memory too! Hope yall enjoy it.

Great work, I love the shot of McAfee Knob, it is one of our favorite loop hikes using the AT.
temperatures exceed 100 degrees F
minimum 1 gallon water per person/day
no shade, no water

That server seems unreliable but I promise it occasionally works =)

I should have labeled those pictures. First is McAfee Knob in VA as previously mentioned, second is climbing out of Lehigh Gap near Palmerton, PA, the lake is in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I still can't believe I took that picture it's so good... last pic is at the end on top of Mt. Katahdin in Maine.

McAfee Knob is probably the best part of Virginia mule ears, that and the Grayson Highlands.

Cool.  I work with a fellow who did the AT a couple of years ago.  He said it was the hike of a lifetime.  He talked about a fellow named Baltimore Jack who is sort of a legend on the trail?  Did you come across him while hiking it?

Great.  Really enjoyed the trail stories on your website and admire you for doing something I've long dreamed of.  There's a film on Netflix called Southbounders which you'll probably enjoy and recognize some familiar places.

I don't know.  Not sure I could handle 2000+ miles of green trees, creeks, and flowers.  I wouldn't know what to do with myself.
