PSA - ATV Users

Public Service Announcement:  I'd never heard of  this until I got an alert from TPWD about this.  How did this slip through?  Just another "hidden tax" and one more thing to keep up with each year - lisc. plates for vehicles, campers, boats, trailers, (Do You have a BIBE plate?), inspection sticker, etc.  I'm surprised they have not come up with a special registration tag for RV's.

Just another "hidden tax"

Like entrance fees to places you have already paid for with your taxes, legislatures and agencies will ever be innovative in ways to relieve you of your money when a majority are complacent or rationalize that it is okay.

Especially encouraging is the fact that if you don't buy the permit at the beginning of the year (Sept 1), there is no proration of the cost. It will cost the same amount on Aug 15 for a permit that expires 2 weeks later as it does for the full year.

OHVs are motor vehicles. In requiring registration the least they could do is treat them like other motor vehicles, or prorate the cost. You get your truck sticker in June, it is good until the following June. Can you imagine the uproar if this wasn't the case?

At least in Texas when you purchase a new vehicle, the inspection sticker lasts for 2 years.

I forgot about those. Haven't had to get one since I left TX 31 years ago.
