A Survey: What to do with the Christmas Mountains
« on: June 30, 2010, 09:52:46 AM »
Hello, I'm testing out a web survey service, Survey Monkey, for my company and thought that I would give it a alpha test run here.

Please go to the link Christmas Mountains Survey and complete the survey.  The survey is open until July 31st 2010

Dang. I had to select 'leave it with the GLO' because my preferred choice wasn't an option.

There needs to be a "Give it to anybody BUT the NPS". :rolling: :rolling:

Maybe Study Butte will take it over as a city park.

Ask and it shall be given  ye, see and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto thee..

You knocked and I answered.  You can edit your responses.

Wow! THANK YOU! (Is this a great board, or what?)

Actually, now I'm torn. I took the anybody but NPS option but it would have been nice to co-select Study Butte. I may go change my vote again.

It gets even better.  This is a "work in process" as I'm giving her a test drive.  I'll take reasonable suggestions under advisement until this Friday for further inclusions.  But, you will be limited to one answer only.  Multiple answers really complicate the stats.

I still have to give a shout out to the neighborhood association POATRI.  Not that we should give Christmas to Terlingua Ranch necessarily but they are right there at the trailhead, are very friendly, yet give firm instructions to all hikers.  And they charged us nada yet gave us copies of the trail route.  Sleepy is of course second.

I have heard rumbles that their current managment contract with the state land office is rather contentious among the landowners out there. Something to do with non-owners using ranch roads which all seem to be marked as 'private'.

i'll drink to that.  Everything is contentious to several of the Terlingua Ranch-ites but that road in from 118 is a Brewster County road much as the roads in our subdivision are.  There is zero wear from the occasional hiker.  Some of my neighbors have nearly assaulted Alpine High School runners for jogging on our county roads.  I think they missed some vaccinations.

Welcome to the Christmas Mountains Feud...

Thank you everyone for participating.

I give www.surveymonkey.com three thumbs up, especially since it's "free".

The results have been tabulated, the chads tossed out, and the survey says....

As I only got 13% of the vote, I'll cast my votes to donating it to NPS BIBE, (Big Bend National Park) giving a clear majority of 61%!

Be a pretty short discussion.
