Davis Mountains
« on: July 19, 2009, 11:14:51 PM »
We took a trip last week with our church to help clean up the Paisano Baptist Encampment (about 10 miles west of Alpine) in preparation for a week long camp meeting they have later this month. We had a great time and I've posted a few pictures.

Horse Lubber

Paisano Peak (west of Alpine)

Some of our church kids get their first chance to sleep under the stars. It was absolute bliss to sleep in the warm, dry air and watch the Milky Way framed by shooting stars.

These three shots are from a McDonald Observatory "star party". This was my first to attend and was a fantastic experience. Highly reccomended!

These last two shots are taken the state park (from their front porch you can watch kids on the diving boards). The springs are entirely undeveloped and very interesting to see as hundreds of gallons bubble up the ground. It must have been quite a site to see all of the springs in the area in a similar state before they were developed.

Kind of feels strange Doc, not having to wear that penitance (backpack) of yours in the back right?. You deserve it, :icon_lol: :high5:
Stay thirsty, my friends.
