Trying to connect the dots...

Doing a search for "Devils River Ranch", turns up
DEVILS RIVER RANCH GP LLC
5601 Democracy Dr Ste 300
Plano, TX  75024
Incorporated: 12/2009; This business has not yet been classified.

Incorporated by Rodger M Sanders, Devil's River Ranch Gp, L.L.C. is located at 5601 Democracy Dr Ste 300 Plano, TX 75024.

Not exactly sure of the role of Rodger Sanders, but maybe this helps connect more dots. He = Highland Homes, a builder of high end homes.  $10K donation to Kay Bailey.  Don't know if he also contributes to Rick Perry or Republican Governor's Association et al.

If you dig a lot deeper, there are a lot more dots to connect with politico donations and there is more than one $10K donation to Kay.  Caveat - DEVILS RIVER RANCH GP LLC - haven't had total confirmation as of yet that this is the owner of the Devils River Ranch land in question.  Waiting to hear back from some friends in Austin.

BTW - social media sites and government agencies are an interesting combo - as those records of posts, information, etc. become public record of the agency and can not legally be modified, moderated, or deleted.  There must be a permanent record of what is going on.

have you inquired to the Nature Conservancy? Since they own all the property across the river, including Dolan Falls, the SNA would be a perfect place for them to "protect". thereby "protecting" everyone up stream; nothing would be in danger except all public access.
QS

Go for it - they are on the web I'm sure.

Appraisal district records might be a source.  May not be relevant to this search, but here's an interesting investigative search site:

I grew up in Del Rio, spent time on the Devils River.  This is a shame.  We are planning a trip down it but we are blessed knowing land owners and will have one on our trip.  Was talking with one of the owners and there is a large ranch for sale on the west side.  They where asking $1500 an acre 3 years ago.  Its an amazing part of the state.

We just did some work on land fronting the Devil's (lat.29.773443 long. 100.999194) and the land owner said that land with river frontage was going for $15,000/acre !!

I attended the packed meeting last night in Del Rio. The vast majority of people present were landowners protesting the swap. As an avid paddler, I was very interested in how they would handle the people. They can't make a master plan until after the land is purchased/acquired according to the TPWD rules. If this swap is done, it will be several years before anything is done-by then who knows how much money the TPWD will have to invest in the park. They hope the majority of river users will use the10 miles of river frontage within the park and not travel the whole river.

I'm on the board of the TRPA (Texas River Protection Agency) and our president, Tom Goynes was there. We talked afterwards about the paddler end of the deal and think that  if the State keeps a portion of the river frontage in the State Natural Area for dowriver paddlers to camp on, it would appease most of the landowners. That is something I will pursue.

I was in favor of the land deal and am still leaning that way because the new park will be beautiful. However, I'm worried that if there isn't a place to camp along the river, it will basically close down the river for paddlers because the new park will be about 28 miles from the takout. That amount is doable on rivers lilke the Brazos or Buffalo or the Colorado, however it's impossible to do on the Devils due to the shallow areas and dragging.

It seemed like most of the landowners present were from downriver near the lake and the housing areas there. They are afraid the proximity of the new put in to the take out at the lake will turn the area into another Guadalupe River.

No kidding about Kerr.  by the way the comments read, it seems as if Kerr is one of the people threatening the other commenters who've been harassed by him (self).  better said, it reads as if Kerr himself is taunting river-going "commentors" on that official youtube video.

i'm thinking to do a river trip there soon.

does the TPWD have the ability to pay any price for land and just let the tax payer deal with it?  is their checkbook unlimited as it goes to the taxpayer's bank account that has no limits?   who holds their spending in check - politicians who won't be the ones to deal with the mess being created lately?   is it the fabricated "tea party" with O'donnell and Palin at the helm?  dear lord.......

Ya know, history tends to repeat itself.  This fiasco has all the trappings of "Land Sale: Presidio Count".   One would think that TPWD would learn from history and not rush things through, or at least give the appearance of rushing things through.

Let me tell you what folks, if it had not have been for at the roots involvement by lotso people, this would have happened.  It's the same thing with the Devils River.  People need to get involved, send comments to TPWD on this, get your elected officials involved, etc.

I'm sure there is some disdain within TPWD over the power of the people provided with the power of the Wild West Web.
