Thanks for the info guc126! I may have to go try camping out there. I enjoy seeing bat flights. Small park though...only 15 camp sites. Wonder if it has well shielded lights...for star gazing.

I was surprised to read "Kickapoo", specially in that part of the region. Where i know there has never been presence of the Kickapoo Nation.

 

No one is really sure why the park or the Park's largest cavern is named Kickapoo, though, since there is no evidence the Kickapoo Indian tribe ever lived on the land.

 They should have named it: Batman Cavern State Park.... , sounds more appropriate.

 

Located 22 miles north of Brackettville in south Edwards County, Kickapoo Cavern offers visitors the chance to roam the rugged environment of southwest Texas, where three of the state’s ecological regions – the Hill Country, the brush country and the Chihuahuan Desert - converge

 If for nothing else than the trails,horse rides and caves, this is a perfect excuse to check out how the flora changes from one ecosystem  to another.

 I look forward in visiting this park....... , maybe a Bender there?
