Peak 8060 - Davis Mountains
« on: May 31, 2016, 05:14:30 PM »
Is there anyone out there that has climbed 8060?  I am planning on visiting TNC for the open July 4th weekend and have found very little information regarding the climb.  I'm aware that it's a bushwhack from Baldy Peak and I'm curious what the round trip hike time might have been.

Thanks in advance, Ric

Did you hike the peak, or at least do some recon for later?  I'm considering doing either along with a Livermore and Richman climb in the upcoming cooler months.  The only decent, but incomplete, source I've come across is this from Summitpost:

The Nature Conservancy should do some name-trimming on behalf of the climbing community.  For the confused:
Mt. Livermore - aka Baldy Peak (the highest outcropping of rock on Livermore)
Pt. 8060 - aka Pt. 8040 - aka Mescalero Mt.
'Tis distance lends enchantment to the view, and robes the mountain in its azure hue.  -Thomas Campbell
