I'm certainly no pro but did you know that the G9 is very popular with pro photographers? It's a great compromise between point and shoot and full on DSLR or film body. Mostly because it allows for manual control. It isn't the camera that creates a great image. It's just a tool...

New Mexico is like Big Bend, undiscovered by most and loved by those that have wandered through it's treasures. Me 2010

Bill,
I'll be anxious to hear how that works...
So far the absolute best solution I've come up with, is to take my sons along and load up their packs with my camera gear. When I want to shoot a photo I tell them to stop, unload, I take the photo, load them back up and kick them in the...but they are quickly getting bigger and stronger than me, so I don't know how long that will last...

Sounds like a good way to carry lots of camera gear...at least until the boys learn to just say no to you.

I hope to try the Tamrac pack straps next weekend. I hiked 6+ miles out at Government Canyon SNA this morning with 3 pounds of camera on the strap around my neck. After about 2 miles, I could feel the back of my neck getting tense from the constant weight hanging there. After 6 miles, I was really ready to get the camera strap off of my neck.  :icon_frown: The Tamrac pack straps should make a big difference! I'll report back once I've had a chance to try them.
