Good informational website for DSLR's
« on: December 30, 2008, 11:27:12 AM »
http://www.kenrockwell.com/

Not sure if any of you novices like me have seen this site, but I found it very helpful when sorting through what I want to buy.

In the end I went with the Nikon D40 package with 2 lenses: the standard 18-55 and the Nikkor 55-200 VR lens.  Got the whole package for $599 from Ritz, and it came with some other goodies as well.  Definitely a better deal than Best Buy or Target which is $500 for just the body and 18-55 lens.

Anyway, just wanted to pass this along!

Thanks for the link, but I'd advise some caution with him. Ken has been around a while, and he sometimes has interesting stuff on his site. He's also full of b.s. He posts outrageous stuff sometimes and it's often a bunch of crapola. He's just "trolling" to some effect to drive up visitation to his site.

I.e. read with caution, take with a grain of salt, etc. :icon_biggrin:

There are other good websites out there that will help novices and beginners. I'd suggest these:

I almost posted a similar response before tj. Rockwell is interesting (to a point), but tends to be full of it.
