I'm sorry if this question doesnt belong here, but I know we have many photographers on this site.  Do any of you know of an affordable Photographer in the Houston area that can photograph a wedding?  Thanks to all.

What is your idea of affordable? This is a very broad range as what may be affordable to me may be chump change to some rich folks.
Stay away form the listings on Craig's list. Trust me.

Also depending on what type of photos you want and the prints as well. When my wife and I got married it cost $2,000 just for the photographer to shoot the wedding and part of the reception. printed Photos were extra. No photos on CD or anything like that or it would have been even more.

Now I know there are good photographers looking to build up their wedding portfolio and could be willing to shoot the wedding for a minimal cost + some expenses. Some of these photographers have been shooting as second shooter for some of the pros and are looking to get started at wedding photography.

If you want I can refer you to a web site with tons of photographers, but you will need to have an idea of poses and how many shots and so on before you talk to them. It will greatly affect the cost of the shoot.

my good friend's mom lives in Baytown and as of 3 or so years ago has started a photography business. i can get you in touch with her, but i have no idea what her rates are. i would volunteer for a minimal charge and the portfolio booster, but the last wedding i did burned me out on weddings  :eusa_whistle:

what budget are you looking at? i agree that a budget photographer will get you budget pictures, to an extent.

I used to have a studio (I did commercial/advertising and the ex did portrait/wedding). I learned fast that not only did I HATE weddings, but you really didn't make money at it, it was more advertising to get the new couple to bring the future kids in for portraits later. Best weddings I've had have been since I quit doing it for money. I shot a buddy's sister's wedding (he was footing the bill) for just the cost of the film/proofs. I was treated like a guest and ate well that day (and they threw in a couple of hundred bucks). Much nicer now with digital, I attended a friend's and mainly shot candids while the hired photographer did the set pieces (he was a kid I taught in sunday school, and his grandfather was a friend and mentor who had a photography business from the 40's to 90's). I just burned a CD afterwards and had a fun time. So much nicer without the pressure and expectations.
