SOS! Need help with RAW files!
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:44:32 PM »
Let me just show a little bit of my technical ignorance here.  I've accumulated a lot of RAW files on my hard drive over the last 11 months and want to burn them to a DVD.  Is this possible?  I know I can put them on a CD but I have this unopened package of DVD+R disks and I know they'll hold a lot more data.

Part 2 of my question (if the above answer is yes) is will my computer even burn a DVD?  I believe it should.  The label on the drive says DVD+/-RW.  Obviously I am severely technically challenged so would appreciate your help with this.

Yes, the RW in DVD+/-RW stands for Read/Write so your DVD drive will burn a dvd.  And yes, you can burn raw files to the DVD.  Just create a DATA disk in your dvd writing software and you can put anything on the DVD.

It's a play on the English translation...

'How you bean (been), kid?'

And here I thought you were talking about eating beans with your baby goat.  Guess that one year of Spanish I took way back in high school didn't stick.  :icon_confused:

Nah, that wasn't covered in high school Spanish. Don't recall where I picked that up, but it was a long time and probably near the location where I learned all the words that will get you in trouble in Mexico.

I don't recall the frijole/cabrito question, and it wasn't taught in my recently completed conversational  fun-ed class at Lamar University in Downtown Orange (LUDO).  I'll try to remember it and see what kind of response I get when I return to Ecuador in the spring.

I doubt you'll get much more than a confused look. It has no rational meaning in Spanish. Maybe Homero can offer an insight on this. It only has meaning in the context of an English-speaker's translation of the individual Spanish words to their English equivalent, and then only due to the near-homonym play on 'bean'.
