Thought I'd share a pic of the latest progress on the monster scope.

This is the upper assembly which has the spider to hold the secondary mirror in the middle of the optical path & the focuser to hold the EP to view the image created by the main mirror.  

You may remember in the overall pic I posted a while back this upper assembly was a single ring. It flexed a little too much so I've been revising it to make it stiffer. This is what It's tuned out to be.

looks like you have a nice little scope there   :D  . Do yu have a 20" or 24"

ever go the TSP? I see your in Austin, do you hang out with the Austin Damn Astronomers.

Im in Houston and have been to the last 4 TSP's. If you participated in the group photo during this time, you know who I am. Im the Crazy guy on the roof yelling at everyone.

Close...It's actually 18.75".

I'm in San Antonio so I'm a member of the SA Astronomical Assoc. I've never been to TSP...I tend to go to BB with the scopes instead.

On the roof yelling...you sound like a very laid back person.   :wink:

What scope(s) do you have?

I have a Meade 8" LX200 OTA on a Meade LXD-75 EQ mount. I have switched scopes a few times, but found I really like the 8" SCT. its a good middle ground scope. Plus nice guys like you alsways let me have a peak through their larger scopes.

I have only been doing the astronomy thing for about 5 years now and still have tons to learn.

actuall the people on the ground yell at me more than I yell at them. Large groups of people can be fun...
