There Is No Subsitute For Fine Glass

You always hear this said about camera lenses. Here's what I think is an example. This is a 100% crop from the RAW file (converted to JPEG) of a picture I took this week. It was taken with a vintage Minolta 100-300mm APO D zoom lens. I acquired this lens a few months ago and the trip to BB this week was the first chance I've had to give this lens a real workout. I think it can be a little sharper with some judicious post processing. We'll see.

Resized full body view is in the Gallery.

Probably only 7-8' away Flash. I was in the car and saw the roadrunner by the side of the road. When I stopped, he hopped up on a rock so he was almost level with my camera. He stayed long enough for me to take about 10 pics. I liked this one with the comb on the head standing up.

Glad you are back, Bill! Can't wait to hear about your trip. That is a great shot, Hiker just looked over my shoulder and said, "OOOOHHHH, that is a pretty roadrunner!!"
Can't wait to see the rest of them! :13:
