Title: Big Bend Balloon Bash
Post by: SA Bill on January 21, 2008, 06:58:08 PM
Anyone been to the Ballon Bash in Alpine? Seems like it is a fairly small event.

Happens around Labor Day so it's kinda warm for my tastes. Still, I like hot air balloons....

SA Bill,

It's on my ever growing list of things to see out that way.  I almost made it last year.  Perhaps when I get the vacation retreat house in Alpine (or if Terlingua Ranch ever gets ultra HS bandwidth internet) I'll be able to spend more time there.  Let's put it on the calendar for this year and maybe we can make it.  Labor Day Weekend 2008 - Aug 30 - Sept 1st (http://www.bigbendballoonbash.com/index.html)

I'm thinking about it....still pretty warm that time of year...maybe not too bad in Alpine?

Not many places in Texas that aren't that warm over Labor Day weekend.   :icon_lol:

That's why I usually go west in October or November! Cooler temps are better for ballooning too...more lift.

Weather fronts starting to come through in October & November may be why they do it in August/September...high winds are bad for ballooning!   :nailbitting:
