I've worked on several of these wells in my younger days. I remember going to a bluff near one windmill and seeing the Devil's River far below. I tried the mortgage calculator to see what my monthly payments would be, but alas it doesn't work.

I think this can be had for only $29,870,000 if you wish to make an offer, actually land value is a little low for the area  :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

I am reminded of the ol' adage...

"the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer".

Some lucky person will end up with this beautiful piece of property...but not me.

I wonder what it's like to even give glancing consideration to purchasing something like this?  Having those deep of pockets that $29,870,610.00 is within the realm of your budget.

Ah, me and my new young sweet thing are going out there this weekend to look at some property along the Devils River.  We've been wanting some land in that area as a weekend get-away and some place we might want to retire on.  She wants some horses, etc.  I called my accountant today and the bank and they said no problem in financing it.  I can get it for as little as 10% down, but might just go ahead and pay cash for it and be done with it.  Say listen, you want to play golf tomorrow afternoon?   I've got a couple of tummy-tucks to do in the morning, then a liposuction at noon, but I should be finished by 1 if I hurry it - we can be on the course by 2pm.   Gotta run to the liquor store, getting low on Blue Label for tonights happy hour then to the store to pick up the Jag.  We're headed out with the Martins tonight to Tony's to celebrate his opening his new clinic in the Galleria and having beaten that wrongful death/malpractice lawsuit.  Be sure and add Jason Brown to your list of clients you never want to do business with!  CIAO.

The vast majority of people who could buy this do not view the property as you do. Most would not be interested and the few who would be are more likely to view it as an investment rather than snagging a nice piece of desert.

It is appealing to you because it represents an environment you like. The super wealthy are considerably less attracted to the middle of nowhere.

and how did you reach that conclusion all-seeing-one?

I don't understand that rational and how you can reconcile that with the facts when all I have to do is point
out the resounding success Steve Smith has at the super exclusive resort, 5 star restaurants,  the Ambush golf course,
motor home park, polo grounds, and exclusive home/mansion community of Lajitas?

Well, there's always an exception, and you will note I said 'considerably less' not 'completely unattracted'.

Well, aside from your obvious sarcasm, if you think Steve Smith had anything other in mind than making a lot of money off gullible people, you are fooling yourself. The 'resounding success' of his development fully bears out my contention that the super wealthy just weren't interested in what he was offering in the middle of nowhere...not as an investment and surely not as a place they wanted to spend time because they were so drawn to a desert experience. A desert experience for the wealthy is Palm Springs and Scottsdale, not some puffed up resort scratched out of the TX desert where the sole attractions are whacking a few golf balls and eating.
