Rather than peddle a collection of Big Bend-related stories to a traditional publisher, Blair Pittman, a photographer and writer whose images have appeared in National Geographic and Forbes, opted to self-publish "Tales from the Terlingua Porch" (Sun Country Publications, $9.95; available from the author at P.O. Box 1482, Wimberley, 78676, (512) 847-5162). With woodcuts by Mark Kneeskern, the 52-page softcover looks as good as anything a trade publisher might put out. And it's full of good stories, like the one about the time Willie Nelson did a free performance in Terlingua to raise money for a badly needed defibrillator and, after the show, serenaded a new mother who hadn't been able to attend.

It is an excellent book.  Bought a copy a little over a year ago.  It is signed by Blair.  My favorite story is the one about the goat (you have to buy the book to read the story).

A fun read.
Picked up two more copies from Muse during New Years trip to give as late Christmas gifts(aka "too bad you didnt go" gifts!) Saw Blair @ the Pea-Off on the porch in T the next day, but they were already signed so I didnt have to impose on him- we just drank beer and ate Blackeyes and cornbread!
Margaritas and Motrin- It's not just for breakfast anymore.
