Ironic that POATRI makes you sign that no hikers in the group can bring guns onto Christmas, whereas I heard now the National Parks allow concealed weapons with the new reg.  Hard to imagine POATRI would lose mgmt now just due to West Texas inertia.  The other irony on the hiking permit is that you have the rights of a "common trespasser" after agreeing to abide by the rules.  Good point about Patterson not abiding by the intent of the donation.  Hope public access is not taken away, but our experience currently is access is great.
