I'm skeptical. It sounds like part of a ploy to get more tax dollars earmarked for Texas. I say it's 50/50 that those roads have always been there and it's basically a coincidence that drug smugglers use them (if they do).  :eusa_think:

At least the authorities will have a better idea of where to monitor things more closely.

Im surprised this has not come up sooner. The military has been flying over that area for a while now. Heck maybe the National guard built those roads

If someone gets a chance, maybe they could google-earth it and see how long they have been there.  From that picture, they certainly look like expensive well maintained roads...

That's another thing. It seems to be a real good way of calling attention to what they are doing. Not what you want if you're involved in an illegal activity. All that's missing is a sign that says "Drug Smuggling Route".

I found the place in the photo in Google Earth. Don't know how long the roads have been there but the GE photo says Oct 2005. There are lots of roads on the other side of the border

According to the coordinates that Badknees posts, it is very near the Cerro del Colorado Mountain, actually in the planes of Serrania del Burro, and that is on private lands. It is heavily patrolled now a days. That is not a good route, if you were to be a  drug smuggler. You would have to have a very secure route as well ,on the other side of the river  and i know it is also heavily guarded by the Border Patrol,DEA and God knows what other agency.

I would bet , that is very near  the road where i left my truck when the wheel came off ( on my La Linda Trip) , a hop skip and a jump from Santo Toribio Ranch.

I think the story with the picture has to be BS. There are lots of roads on the Texas side (Foster Ranch Road), that connect directly to this area from Hwy 90. Looks way too easy for the Border Patrol to watch carefully.

Looks like the roads existed in 2002

I did not wanted to be the first to use BS, on this post... :icon_lol: :icon_lol:,but i thought of the same, pretty much from the beginning. It is just way too out in the open for the Drone planes, radar detectors,HLS Blimps,BP sensors,The ever present eye in the sky to not see this as a Drug Route,it just does not follow common sense to believe it. But anyhow i agree with Uh-Clem here:

I have been up as far as Langtry and seen the town from Mexico.  I have also seen what is left of a plane or two in Mexico out in the middle of nowhere
