We're seeing birds in the Terlingua area which are either rarely seen or not seen here at all. The surmise is that they are refugees from the fires in Mexico.
Reports are that they show little fear of people. One local easily caught a small yellow bird which is happily cleaning bugs out of his house.

I've not gone to my bird book yet, but there is one sparrow-sized bird, mostly brown, with red on its wings. A blue bird with brown on its wings.
They're happy with hen scratch. These "newbies" don't seem to have familiarity with a hanging bird feeder, as do my local buddies.
Rough year all over. The blue quail practically live on my porch, waiting for more hen scratch. No growies for seeds or green shoots.
