Oh, I can't make it that easy!

Known as a Hill Country paradise.

I'm kinda the last "outpost" of real civilization when traveling west out of San Antonio towards Fort Stockton on I-10.

The Guadalupe River runs through me.

There used to be a TPWD State Park named after me.

Excellent article.  Very well-written.  Be sure and watch the video, too.

The park didn't seem to have much to offer in the way of hiking.  My Dad and I did a short hike there a few years ago and were not impressed.  The campsites are on either side of the highway.  It'd probably do as a place to crash for the night or maybe fish/swim, but otherwise doesn't make a good destination park.

Its good for day trips and hot water showers if you're at the Kerrville Folk Festival.  The upper area is basic Hill Country but that's pretty nice if you're used to suburban pavement, city concrete, or even Blackland Prairie countryside.  Down by the river is one of the best picnic, dayuse areas in Kville, with shade, grassy areas, and an old boat ramp covered with algae where kids spend hours sliding down into the water.  The river bottom is very rocky for swimming, but otherwise ok and they do rent out paddle boats and such now.  Its not wilderness, but its still real nice.  Fishing is not so good...there are far better places to fish in and around Kville.
