Interesting looking area, Homer. Thanks for sharing. Nice to have a group like that to share your experiences. Some time I hope to see these areas personally 8)

You have no idea, how eager i am to have you come over here. how about octuber?..there is a preplan with David to organize something for all of your folks to visit the mountains in that time of year. Give it a whirl, see what happens. There is plenty of time to get organized.

Thanks, Homer. Love to do it if my budget permits :)

NOT at all AL...your pictures were a welcomed contribution to this thread. It is quite easy to get confused with the Maderas Mountains and Sierra del Carmen mountains. It was confusing to me ,up until Febreuary 2006,when we went over there and saw it for ourselves. Very understandable indeed.

I loved your El Pico pics, though. I saw it but I was dead tired to hike it over there. The wind was blowing like crazy : 70 MPH and i felt like a wind sail resisiting those gusts. But it was incredible.

In a way, i am glad there aren't enough good roads to go up to the Del Carmens,or trails BTW. Once you get to reach it. You get a feeling of complete solitude, you know no one is up there but yourself,so the Del Carmen's remain undisturbed by us humans...a sight you should see one day .

IF ANYBODY,IN THIS BOARD SHOULD HAVE SOME PICTURES OF THE DEL CARMEN'S IN ONE OF YOUR TRIPS OVER HERE ,IN YOUR LIFE . BY ALL MEANS POST IT HERE,YOUR CONTRIBUTION SHOULD ENRICHED THIS THREAD FOR EVERY ONE TO READ.

David Locke :?: ....I know hehehe...i definetly know. I should PM you sometime tomorrow,wednesday 19th.... 8-[

Homer, I have not confused the two for many years.

I was simply posting the pictures in response to your request by private message.

Right you are Al...I asked you to post them , in private message. And for that i am very greatful. The confusion was NOT directed to you, mainly to the folks who are reading these posts. It?s too many dang mountains, and even more in another country...hahaha. Regards.

Is el Pico climbable?

I can see the wheels turning in your head...

It definitely looks like a pretty long class 5 section up there, but it's hard to get a good idea of just how tall the knob is from that picture. I would guess the steepest section is at least 100-120 feet tall. Maybe the back side of it would have an easier route?

I would be up for a little 4x4 over there in October, if I can fit it in the schedule.

Homero, this would be a trip of a lifetime for some of us Gringos. I know I am sure interested. Your offer is very generous and I know a lot of us are very grateful for your offer.

I sugest we need to move this 4x4 trip to a separate thread. There are a lot of issues to resolve. Do you have a rig capable of the trip or do you need a ride? What are the insurance issues of vehicles in Mexico? What are the approximate distances involved? How many days/nights are we talking about? A more firm date so planning. I am sure there are a lot more questions.

Again thanks for the offer.

Homero, another question. Just out of curiosity, is Loomis Peak (the ultimate summit of Maderas Del Carmen) actually pictured in any of those photos? You may or may not know the answer to that question...

Thanks.

My dear and GPS Topographical GuRu...WL2. Out of everybody in this board, you are the one who digs in the most , information wise. None are more prepare to tackle a none visited sight than you.

You are totally right :!: . I will start another thread to formally invite you all, on Octuber , as a possible date. There are many issues to cover & discuss and your points are well taken...all of them.

There is many logistics involved when going to the Sierras: Difficulty of the terrains, conditions of the vehicles, notifications to the proper authorities, food & camping, first aid services, and many other. Reason enough why , i haven't posted an invitation yet to come over here. But patience is a virtue, and TONIGHT i will have my weekly meeting, so i should have an answer for you tomorrow, at the earliest.

Look forward to it.... 8)

That's a tad harsh, Homer. I guess I'm going to have to go in there covertly. I'll take lots of photos and collect some Dino eggs. Oh wait. If I remember correctly, Dinos get very angry when you run off with their eggs. I don't care. I can still run pretty dare fast!

That is Sierra Maderas del Carmen (on top of SDC) EL Carmen Project, in other words: That is CEMEX 's El Jefe plane . (Lorenzo Zambrano).
