Anyone here been to Serran?as del Burro?

This range has long intrigued me because of the extreme weather / super cells, sheer amount of rainfall and sheer beauty. For some nice photos and text you should check out "Dos Aguilas" by Peter Steinhart with photos by Tupper Ansel Blake. The book covers the border region of the United States and Mexico. Probably out of print but not sure about that.

Thought I'd better move over here, too...

Thanks, Homero, for posting that reply from Bonnie McKinney.  It clears things up for me.

I've never been to the Serranias del Burro.

Hey Joe have seen any photos of that range? It looks unreal! Up to three times as much precip as any area anywhere near. Bear and Lion out the wazoo. I've only seen a few photos published in a book, I'd share them here but copyright issues obviously prevent me from doing that. It do look nice though.

sportsman500rse...Joe ;

I have been 3 times to the Serranias del Burro , almost all of it belongs to private owners. The sights, smells and sounds are just undescribables . It is so beautiful, there.

I have some photos, posted on my club's webpage.Let me pass you the link to it.

The Book is just spectacular, and so is the price: $ 120.00 u.s.dlls + freight, just to get it over here in Piedras Negras. Then we must add shipping to any part of the U.S.

The people at Organizacion Sierra Madre say, that is part of recollection of  funds for their cause and this money, is used for that purpose.

I will start another thread about the book, and will give detail information about it, if anyone expresses interest. I can help.

In the meantime , please enjoy some pictures from Serrania del Burro:

I'm glad Joe, that Bonnie's reply helped in some way...it helped me too.
Stay thirsty, my friends.

Supercell....right: Had looked it up, on Wykipeda before yoyr post. Thanks..yes. Those are the common storms around Sierra del Burro. Maybe , once you see the vegetation , then you can understand why ' supercells " form exclusively on the Burro Mountains, around these places.

Sierra del Burro, has it's own authentic weather, due to the surroundings, much like the Sky Islands around the Maderas El Carmen mountains, although in the Del Carmens are not as severe as in the Del Burro's.

  Very well know, indeed.
Stay thirsty, my friends.

Here is some more information about thunderstorms in the Serran?as del Burro range:

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/coolimg/del_rio/index.html

While I am on this subject, here is a picture I took on Shafter Crossing Road near Dryden, Texas.  The Serran?as del Burro range is faintly visible on the horizon.
