5 Weeks and Counting!

Okay...enough gear talk...for now.

Here's my plan for the trip next month.

Saturday, 9/27:  Drive from SA, arrive BB, get spot in Basin, set up camp and then observe the stars if it's clear.
Sunday, 9/28:  8am get permit for S Rim hike next day. Day hike Cattail. Pack. Observe.
Monday, 9/29:  Hit the trail for S Rim early. Take my time going up. Enjoy the views. Take lots of pics!
Tuesday, 9/30:  Hit the trail down whenever the mood strikes me. Unpack. Observe.
Wednesday, 10/1:  Relax and recover. Hike Maple Canyon. Observe.
Thursday, 10/2:  Hike Ward Spring. Observe.
Friday, 10/3:  Pack car and drive back to SA.

Saturday and Sunday, 10/4&5:  Unpack car. Wash bugs off of car. Wash clothes. Stow gear where I can find it for the next trip. Write trip report. Sleep. Start planning the spring '09 BB trip!!

Sounds great SA Bill, hitting the rim during the week when fewer folks are likely to be up there sounds perfect.  Are there any meteor showers during that time slot?
temperatures exceed 100 degrees F
minimum 1 gallon water per person/day
no shade, no water

Sounds like a good plan, Bill.  You've built in plenty of flexibility into that schedule to allow you time to make detours and just enjoy the views.

Although my next trip is a bit further off than yours, I know I enjoy the planning and gear searching almost as much as the trip itself.   :icon_wink:

I went out this past weekend to the Wichita Mtns Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, OK to get a taste of the trails again.  I sure do miss that.
