Hello All,
I just returned from my first trip to Big Bend two days ago.  I'm still working on my report and I'll have plently of pictures to post soon.  I just wnat to get one thing straight before I post my report.  I climbed Emory Peak on my last day there.  I looked up the stats of the peak for my story and see is about 7795 ft tall and there is about a 2500 ft elevation gain from the Pinnacles trail head to the peak.  Is this correct?   I want to make sure because I want to photoshop in a skyscraper next to the peak to demonstrate its height but I see the Sears tower is only about 1451 ft, meaning I climbed about 1000 ft higher than it.  I grew up in Chicago and know the Sears (Willis) tower well.  I can't believe I was up that high!

According to http://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/chisos-dayhikes.htm Emory Peak is 7832 feet.

http://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/chisos-trailsystem.htm has this graph showing elevation changes of the Chisos trails:
