Tonight (or tomorrow) 8 of us leave from Alpine and head south to Study Butte. On bicycles. In the dark. We try to arrive at the greater Terlingua Ranch area by dawn before the locals are stirring. Light is sufficient for most without headlights so if you are headed south early look for the red blinky lights. Winds actually look ok for once but you never know on the O2 flats and of course there is no water.
Wish us luck and notify any reptilians to stay out of the middle of the road.
That last grade between Terlingua Ranch and town is a doozy. Next time you are in your car, imagine grinding up that puppy!
QS, we will try to post earlier next moon ride. 7 started and 7 finished, despite light rain at the start. Except for sag not a single southbound car for 60 miles. Big Bend Gazette will have articles next month or two on the ride, and some pics. Everybody got in to the Study Butte store before 8am and we got quite a nice breakfast there.
Sounds like it was a great ride! Congrats to all.
Any pics from the sag wagon? Just curious.
That was a nice pic of Chinati. The Gazette will have one pic this month and the remaining sag pics next issue. The one sag had driven to Austin, then Abilene for work and got back at 9pm before waking up for the ride at 1am. Then came and brought her rider refreshments at 330am at Elephant Mt. and 530am at Agua Fria. She is a winner and he is in debt for awhile.
