coyotes calling along the river road/video
« on: February 25, 2011, 08:28:37 PM »
I was up on top of the ridge behind the Mariscal Mine and these fellas started going at it down in the valley.  I had a brain flash that my little G12 takes video and caught their calls ....  always a treat!

Sleepy you are so right!! I was very happy to see that the G12 picked up their calls - it's always a magical thing for me to hear 'em go at it!

We were camped about a half mile in from Solis 2 on Feb 25th and 26th; we heard some coyotes during the night of the 26th...the first I had heard any in the park!

I really enjoyed the view the mine provided as we rode our mountain bikes from Solis 2 to Talley to retrieve the truck after our Mariscal Rim/Cross Canyon hike; the Chisos and Sierra Quemada made for some great views along this route, but the heat and high winds beat us down pretty good!
Ah Big Bend, we will soon return to reacquaint ourselves in our ritual of blood, exhaustion and dehydration. How can we resist the temptation to strip ourselves of the maladies of civilization?

I hear ya, Homer!  We stayed at Talley1 the night of this video and the winds were horrific - we had to pull our trucks into a little windbreak to try and eat dinner without getting any extra dust.... ;)
