River Rd. East is a superhighway and you won't scratch your vehicle unless you are really sloppy.

I have to say, however, that pinstripping a capable off road vehicle, regardless of its price, is a sign that you are actually using the vehicle's capability and should be more of a positive than a negative.  Then again, I tend to keep my vehicles for a long while and resale value is low on my list of considerations.  Why have such a vehicle if you don't use it on occasion?  Glenn Springs is tighter on the vegetation than River Rd. East.

I don't mind if pinstripping does happen, just prefer to avoid it if possible.  If not BB, the G will get its desert markings in SE Utah.

We have a saying in my little 4-wheeling group - " Sacrifice the body for the Fun".  This includes your own body with scratches, dents, and fluid loss.

BUT the second, MOST important part of the creed is taken from Ed Viesturs "Getting to the top is optional, getting down (home) is mandatory."

Big Bend has nothing on Utah when it comes to wheeling.  It's good that you are beginning the process of getting comfortable with the idea of a dented, scratched up rig.

There are back roads and then there are dirt roads.  I live down a dirt road in what may be one of the few remaining subdivisions with dirt roads in Travis County.  (So much for one of the most basic functions of county government in Texas . . . )

No practical need for a 4-wheel drive vehicle although one can be really really fun! If you have one you need to use it and enjoy it!

Four wheel drive would be of little help getting over the low water crossing during a heavy rain although on the rare occasion there is ice on our hill country roads, an Audi Quatro or Subaru might be money in the bank.
