Dining options

This is another way too early planning post. My 14yo and I will be staying in Fort Davis for Independence Day. I remember the drug store from childhood, but what are some other places to eat?

Not sure if you're only looking at Fort Davis for dining, but in Alpine a must eat is the Trash Can Breakfast Burrito from Magoos, located across from McDonald's.   It is a staple of our trip coming and going.

We actually ate at Magoo's on our New Year's trip.  I am looking primarily for Fort Davis.

We do have plans to make the drive to Terlingua one evening to sit on The Porch and probably have dinner at the Starlight.

The last few times I've been to Blue Mountain Bistro at Hotel Limpia, it has been hit or miss.  The food is always good, but the service has been really spotty.  Last time we went, they forgot my order for both the appetizer and the main course.

There are new owners at the Drug Store, and they've gone back to more of a normal breakfast menu.  No more having to settle for turkey bacon.

Indian Lodge has been solid the last few times I've eaten there, but call ahead if you aren't staying at the state park.  They've been running strange hours due to not always having enough people on staff.

Lupita's Place, Cueva de Leon, and Poco Mexico are all decent options for local tex-mex.   The sandwiches at Stone Village Market are usually great as well.

Do they have full bars? I've been rather surprised at the number of Mexican places where you can't get margarita.

I don't believe any of them have alcohol service.  Cueva is BYOB.

Curious, if Jeff Davis County might be dry-ish...
