Roy Stillwell's House
« on: August 09, 2013, 09:03:47 PM »
Does anyone know where Roy and Hallie's house was located in Marathon and whether it is still standing?  Just read Hallie's book and thought it would be cool to see the spot where their town home was located.

I don't know where they lived, but you might ask the ladies who run Marathon Coffee (café) in Marathon. They told me that they knew Hallie. Hope this helps.

Back in August, I did exactly that. I asked the ladies at Marathon Coffee Shop about it. Francine called her mother, who is Nancy's sister, and she determined after some thought that Roy's house was no longer standing and had been torn down some time back. It had been located south of the tracks on 1st St, where the Gage Gardens are now located. They also told me where the Crawford house was located on S. Lee St. Cool stuff. I need to tour the town cemeteries sometime as there are many Big Bend names buried there.

Very Cool stuff! Thanks Flash. Thanks also for refreshing my memory on Francine's name. She is a sweet lady, and such a joy to speak with. I always try and stop by her place and eat on the way down to The Bend. In fact , I'll be doing just that next week.
I need to take time to spend in Marathon as well. There is so much history there if one takes the time to explore it.
