Bar at terlingua ranch
« on: July 22, 2011, 08:22:26 PM »
Back in the mid 70's on Terlingua ranch there was a bar called the big bender and was run by a couple Snake and Betty Smith does any one remember the place and what ever became of the couple? Is the building still there?

I know there is a clubhouse with a resturant and pool on TR.  I think this was the original Shelby guest house.  I have never been there myself and I don't think it's open anymore but maybe it is?

Not familiar with it, but Snake's son DB just passed away last year and I got the impression his parents had earlier, but may be wrong. That's about all I know sorry.

Snake Smith passed away ten years ago or more.  His wife was still alive up and living on T-Ranch to the time one of their sons DB, died about 2 years ago.  Both Snake and DB were real characters.

Snake was definitely a character I always enjoyed stopping in for a cold drink after riding my motorcycle all day and talking to him and Betty. Where about was Betty living I would like to look her up when I go down in November?
