A ride up Big Hill on the River Road, then off to meet friends and neighbors at the 19th annual Black Eyed Pea CookOff on the porch in Terlingua Ghost Town, Texas USA to welcome in the New Year!

I was wondering what that was. We pulled in to the parking lot for dinner at the Starlight just after 5 and it was packed but the event was ending. It looked like fun.

Here's what the poster says:

Located in the Terlingua Ghost Town

Turn in time for the peas will be 2 P.M. sharp. You may cook on site or off. Just turn in at proper temperature.

There is a $5 fee for the peas which will be used for prize money. $$$

Drop by the Terlingua Trading Post to see this year's First Place Trophy.

Starting after 2 PM for a donation of $5 you get a spoon, bowl and cornbread and you may go around and taste the peas yourself.

There promises to be music and game and fun until 0 dark thirty.

Please bring a cake for the cake walk

All proceeds goe to Terlingua School Activity Fund.

Come by and get your good luck peas and begin the year with luck on your side!

Sounds like a great day - and I bet a ride up the Big Hill on a bike is an experience!!!
